The B permit
Residency and work authorisation

It is a residential authorisation with a business activity. This permit is delivred after submission of 12 months or more working contract : valid for 5 years. Freedom to change employer or canton at any time without authorisation
Unrestricted acquisition of your main residence in Switzerland..

The C permit

Settlement authorisation for an undetermined duration permit. Status and conditions are unchanged ,available after 5 years ,committed to an evaluation.
No restriction for acquiring your main residence in Switzerland.

The G permit
Cross-border commuter work authorisation

The G permit is given after submitting a work contract, immediate possibility to work in the border zone and not only in the origin border canton. Weekly returns to home.
You can change of employer at any time and without authorisation.

The L permit
Seasonal or temporary work authorisation

Living authorisation for a short period (maximum 4 months or 120 days non consecutive).
It concerns au pair young people, but also young people with medical qualifications who wish to improve their knowledge. It also concerns the show dancers for a period of 8 months.
Also for the people who are active for a total of 4 months per year.
Freedom for acquiring your main residence in Switzerland.

IN FRANCE

In agreement with the principle of free circulation of workers from European Community countries, autorisation to work is not needed, however you must accomplish certain formalities according to the length of your contract :

If your contract is less than 3 months you simply need to be able to present a declaration of employment signed by your employer.

If your contract is between 3 and 12 months you must, in the 3 months following your arrival, apply for a " carte de sejour " "communauté européenne " delivered automatically upon presentation of your declaration of employment from your employer.

If your contract is longer than 12 months the proceedure is the same. The " carte de sejour " will be valid for 1 year and renewable for long contracts.
The members of your family (spouse, children under 21 years old, dependant relatives) will automatically receive a " carte de sejour) valid for 10 years.
